Sea Marks

Mirage Theatre’s production of Sea Marks is a revival of Irish playwright Gardner McKay’s romantic comedy. A staged reading was presented at the Mid Hudson Heritage Center on June 26th, 2014 featuring Linda Roper and Chuck Muckle.
A love story that predates email, cell phones, and Match.com; it’s a world of slow mail and slow courtship. It’s about personal identity and how technology, ambition, and city life has affected the quality of life for most of us. This two-person play is a romance about an Aran Islands fisherman and an urban professional woman who establish a relationship via the postal service. The play was first presented by Dana Matthow and Debroah Matthow at The Players Theatre, New York City as well as the Eisenhower Theatre, Kennedy Center in Washington, DC; regional theatres throughout the United States and Canada, and Europe.
What Critics had to say about the original production:
“High Marks for Sea Marks” – Walter Kerr, The New York Times
“Utterly Winning” – New York Magazine
“Funny, Touching, Well Crafted” – The Associated Press
